Well after a very long break I am back and kicking off my return to the Gaiwa community with a slightly out-of-character topic for me, anime! I was made to watch the anime 'School-Live (がっこうぐらし in Japanese) by my boyfriend who promised I was going to love it. So I sat down wondering what was so special about it and the opening credits started. 'A schoolgirl anime? Really?'
I watched on and yeah, it was just some cutesy kids running around a school. I wasn't sure why there was a puppy, or indeed why these girls loved school so much that they chose not to go home but instead sleep overnight at school, something their teachers didn't think was strange either. Otherwise though, it was just K-On without instruments as far as I could tell.
Then the last few minutes happens. It is here that I'm switching to a spoiler bar. Of course it is up to you if you want to read on, but if you haven't seen the show and want to watch an anime that isn't like anything you've seen before*, that will take you on an emotional roller-coaster and if you're sensitive like me, have you in tears a few times, then please don't deny yourself the impact of the reveal. Run off now and watch it for yourself and then you can come back and join in with the chat! You'll know after those last few minutes if this is going to be your kinda show or not.
If you're like my mum and enjoy knowing what's coming though, well I guess this is the thread for you! ^^
*This is coming from someone who knows very little about anime so it's a bold and risky statement.
NB: Spoiler bar deliberately kept suitable for anyone who has only seen the first episode.
I'm really excited to chat about the show (or manga) with other survivors of the series! ^^

OMG ZOMBIES!!!!!!!!
I love a good zombie drama and 2 years ago when I was trying to find anime I like, I asked on Gaiwa if there were any about zombies. I think School-Live was either just airing or just about to when I asked that, but it had somehow become buried in the sea that is new anime these days.
I missed ALL the hints in that first episode. Despite JP saying I was going to love it, which is very unusual considering how few anime series I've gotten into, I didn't even consider that it could be my favourite movie, game or drama subject; zombies!
I won't discuss the rest of the series just yet so I'll leave it there for now.
