Yesteray was an amazing day! (yeah, rare as it is, I'm writing in polite Japanese! I always speak casual Japanese even to people I don't know too well. Of course, they always say they totally understand and it's not a problem, but it makes me feel uncomfortable, so I want to be able to speak more politely. So I'm practising that kind of Japanese!)
So, yesterday, I went to the Teikyo University Japanese culture festival with some friends. This festival held every year by the (native) Japanese students. Speaking to the students in Japanese has been my dream for quite a while, but I've always been too shy to speak to them before. Yesterday, I spoke at long last, in Japanese naturally, without thinking. It was such an amazing feeling!
More than anything, a girl who speaks good Japanese who I met recently, also came along. While we went around the festival together, we got to know one another even better. She's such a nice girl! I'm so pleased we met!

Oh I forgot to ask a question.
Have you ever worn a yukata or kimono?

When I was a kid, I wore a yukata one time! Mukogawa University is in my hometown, so the campus has a lot of events and festivals! In 2002, there was a "Family Festival" and I wore my very first yukata at that festival! (Though, at the time, I definitely did not want to...)
11 years later, I started working at Mukogawa University. When my students returned to Japan, 1 yukata was left at my coworker's house. She said to me, "Anna! Isn't this yukata cute? Here, put it on! I want to give it to you!" And I received my very own first yukata from her! ^_^ I still haven't worn my first kimono yet though.
Have you ever been to Japan? Where in Japan have you been? If you haven't been, where would you like to go?

Uh, I really didn't want to reply to this question, but oh well. I've been to Japan three times, and for my second time I was studying at Chubu University in Nagoya. While I was there, I, of course, went to the places near Nagoya, but other than that I went to: - 瀬戸 Seto
Nara
Ise
Kyoto
Osaka
Tokyo
Hiroshima
Miyajima
Iga
勉強じゃなくて、旅行過ぎちゃったかもw Um, I've probably forgotten a few. I probably might have travelled too much instead of studying lol Okay, let's continue to the next question! What television genre do you like? What do you recommend?

Yay, the question thread! This is one of my favorites. For TV genres, my absolute favorites are romantic comedies and mystery dramas (like police, spy, or detective stories such as Sherlock Holmes). Of those, my favorite TV show at the moment is BBC Sherlock. If we're talking about Japanese TV programs, I like J-dramas (again, romance and comedies- if you want reccomendations on that there are lots in the Japanese Movies thread), but lately I've been super into Variety/Interview TV shows and game shows/contest shows. Lately what I'm always watching is a show called YOUは何しに日本へ (you wa nani shi ni nippon e) which means "what did YOU come to Japan to do?" (literally 'as for you, to do what, to Japan?'). It's a program where the interviewers go around Tokyo/Narita airport and interview foreigners about their experience/lives/interests in Japan. The opinions Japanese people have in regards to foreigners and their opinions are very interesting to me, and I also like hearing about the lifestyle and experiences of foreigners living abroad there, so it's really interesting, and since I watch without subtitles it also comes in handy for studying Japanese. I highly recommend it. Just look up on youtube YOUは何しに日本へ. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEN_Om187I4二番好きな番組は「のど自慢ザ! My second favorite (but no less good) Japanese TV show is called Nodojiman Za! ワールド」which is a singing competition for foreigners who sing Japanese songs. I always thought, wouldn't it be fun if I got to be on that show (I like singing) Since I love music, it's really fun to watch. Here is a clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwNnWwRWe3w (there is a long intro, the singing starts at 1:45 or so) Alright, so the next question Do you speak any other languages besides English and Japanese? If so, what is your favorite word? What does it mean?

Too lazy to write exactly but.. well, I think most people know I used to study German and went there to work as a teacher a few years ago. German boyfriend.. hates my guts.. all that stuff.
My favourite German word is Bauchredner, which means 'ventiloquist'.
Abby, is that show you mentioned on NHK? I think I might have seen it on Japanese TV. I'm not sure if it's the same name but it's similar.

For the PS3 I like games like Folklore, Kingdom Hearts, and Devil May Cry.

あの。。。 Erm, I actually have an obsessive nature, so I'm always into all kinds of things. My current obsessions include; ー>ヨガ (yoga) ー>ゾンビー(とくに今やぜんぜんやてないフェースブックゲームから「スキっピー」と呼んでる愛らしいゾンビー) (zombies, in particular an adorable zombie called 'Skippy' from a facebook game I never play these days. ー>クロミ (サンリオのキャラ) (kuromi: a sanryo character) ー>当然、日本語!(of course, Japanese!) (A youtube group called the yogscast) ー>うちの猫 (our cat) ー>猫耳 (ウェアボーじゃないよ! (Kitty ears: NO I'm NOT a weaboo! I've just collected them since I was a kid. I rarely wear them these days though. Just sometimes in the house.

In your opinion, what is coolest, pirates or vampires?

Probably vampires. I saw this show on the history channel where they said that most real pirates suffered from nutritional deficiencies. Then they showed a shoe which belonged to a pirate, and it was so small that I could hardly believe it was an adult shoe and not a child's one. Vampires wouldn't get anything like a nutritional deficiency as long as there are people with blood in them around!
Next question:

My favorite drink is Lychee Ramune. Lychee is something that American stores don't usually sell (at least not fresh), but it's my favorite fruit. Also, Ramune is my favorite drink of all time, so if you put lychee and Ramune together it has to be a great thing!
