I finally managed to install line on my crappy Android. I'm struggling wth it a bit, but I always do with new technology, and this phone is a nightmare to type in Japanese on, because it has a keyboard like a blackberry, so the screen is small, yet the input program I use uses the touch screen (if anyone knows of an Android app that allows direct romaji input to hiragana like typing on windows, please let me know because this 'keep tapping til the word appears' thing is painfully slow).
Anyway, does anyone know if it can be turned off? I don't want to be getting calls or spammed with messages while at work, or other inappropriate times, but I can't see a menu anywhere that allows the app to be closed. So far, I'm not enjoying Line, but its the only way to connect with lovely Tannya in Indonesia and I really miss her...

You can set each chat not to send you alerts, or you can turn off notifications from the app completely somewhere I'm sure. I'm not sure how it looks on Android, but I'm assuming it'd be pretty similar to the iPhone setup anyway. This is where you can set each chat individually to not send you notifications: (Go into the chat, click the ↓ (and it should change to ^ and the options should pop up), then you can turn off notifications) (Just ignore the Alice-ness of it lol)

JembruGlad you got Line working! My username there is the same as my forum one, so add me when you can, and then I'll add you to the Gaiwa staff group on there. Sadly, I don't know of any direct input keyboard apps. You could probably copy and paste from the online Japanese IME at inputking.com, but that might take even longer...

Ill admit I am personally no good at maintaining my participation on te forum, however I was thinking that if someone would be willing to pen pal with me via line I could do this and I could keep up with this in order to improve my Japanese. My user ID is jacobrthomas, and I just want to have a casual opportunity to practice my Japanese, so please dont be shy as far as contacting me

What is everyone's favorite thing about Line? I like the huge variety of stickers you can choose. Having my friends in my pocket wherever I go! And.. okay, I admit that I like being able to practice Japanese so much more than I was before! The other morning, when chatting with bokusenou, it got busy at work. Every time I passed my phone, I added a word to two to my reply. Very sneaky, but it shows how much easier it is to shoe-horn Japanese into even my busiest days thanks to line! WOW oh my goodness, I feel so stupid right now. I just found the Romaji keyboard for ios I didn't know romaji keyboards existed either. I can't believe how impossible it was to type on my old phone compared to now... My issue these days is just missing the keys as I type. It slows me down a bit in Japanese, but thanks to kanji, I usually notice when I type something wrong. In English I'm not so lucky though and end up writing some surreal things thanks to autocorrect! Haha.

I love using Line! I use it the most even when talking with my American friends in English. The stickers are just too good.

Yeah, definitely join our Gaiwa groups on there. My schedule is a bit erratic, which means I rarely get time to sit down and have a proper chat over skype or in chatrooms and suchlike, and making advance arrangements is hard. Line lets me just dip in whenever I have a spare moment though, so I can keep in touch with my friends here at Gaiwa, even when I'm rushed off my feet! It's so cool!

Oh wow, yeah I'd love to join the group! My username is miss.macc
Also is there anyway to go in and edit stickers in order to get them to pop-up for suggestions? I really like the nekoatsume stickers but I'd prefer it if I didn't have to search through them as much...
