Jembru いいなぁ. Right now going back to Japan again is out of my reach. Even going to Japantown, California would be pretty far.
Well, since this is the rant thread, my wisdom tooth started coming down lately, which means it hurts when I talk a lot or eat... I've been trying to keep away from Gaiwa so my bad mood doesn't affect things...
We can't really afford it! It was fine when going to Japan just meant one airfare, but getting two of us there is £1,300 (just shy of 2,000 US dollars) for the flights alone. JP earns minimum wage, and although I earn a little more than him, I support my mother financially so actually have less money left than he does some months. That said, all the overtime I've had to do this last 14 months has let our savings mount up. Our savings are almost all my money though. In fact, it IS all my money until JP pays some of his redundancy money in (it came through yesterday, although he's actually been kept on for 'up to' a year, for some reason :/), which means essentially, I'm paying to get us both to Japan. So while we can afford our flights now, that money took 2 years of living on the poverty line to save up. Well, okay, I'm being a bit dramatic, we've frequently used our savings to buy furniture and cover those unexpected costs that pop up now and then (like vet bills for JP's mam's cats), so it's not like that's all we managed to save. Still, you get my point that this is a lot of money to a young couple on a modest income.
Deciding to go to Japan is a massive decision for us, and equates to starting again from £0 when we return. We can't afford it, and I actually feel I have all the 'Japan' I need right here, so could die happy if I never set foot there again, but JP's never seen Japan, and I'd really love to show him. I want to go to Yokohama together, because that's such a romantic place to go as a couple. Maybe Odaiba too.. take the momorail at sunset.. buy an overpriced cuddly audino from the pokemon center (if it's still there). I guess also, it would be nice to be able to buy shoes that actually fit my feet again!! I'm sick of padding my shoes with socks! ^^
So... yeah, we'll most likely go. I'm not booking anything until JP gets his passport though, and I'm not gonna rush him. That way, if I put off going, I can blame him! lol
