Gaiwa Forum Rules and Guidelines
★ No Spam: Please refrain from spamming our forums. Posts that lack context, relevance, or posts that include page-stretching content will be deleted. Our users are encouraged to stay on topic and be relevant to the theme of the discussion at hand.
★ Mature Material: Any material that is sexually explicit or pornographic, or depicts excessive violence or gore is not permitted here. Tasteful nudity in the art threads are allowed on a case-by-case basis, but on the whole, it is a good idea to cater to a range of audiences. Keep in mind that some members may be as young as 13.
★ Abide the Rules of Independent Forums: Here at Gaiwa, you will encounter several different forum boards with their own set of rules. (For example, you will encounter some strictly "Japanese-only" forums that keep talk in English minimized as a rule.) When you come across forums like this, simply try to abide the rules. When in doubt, ask a moderator.
★ Minimize Your Use of Google Translate: We at Gaiwa ask all our members to minimize their use of Google Translate, and similar translation-based websites, as they defeat the purpose of our community. This is an educational website that was created to provide an online community for serious Japanese learners and Japan enthusiasts. Those who rely entirely on online translation often cause confusion and misunderstanding in the discussions they take part in. If you really want to take part in a Japanese conversation—study more, don't use Google Translate.
Those who break the rules will receive 1 warning. 3 warnings will result in a permanent banning from Gaiwa Forum. (We reserve the right to ban disruptive members immediately regardless of their amount of warnings.)
Gaiwa members should know that they can easily Report disruptive members via Post Settings, or through a Private Message to one of Gaiwa's current staff members. We will protect your confidentiality, and take prompt action.
Please don't hesitate to report disruptive members!

Gaiwa members are allowed to share links (for instance, to their YouTube videos or Etsy stores), but make sure that that's not all you talk about within the forums! Especially not at first. We can tell the difference between an advertising spammer, and a member just trying to share some links with friends.
