Last night I was on my way to my Dad's house with JP. It had apparently been raining on and off all day, not that I'd have known because I'd been on a night shift so slept all day. JP refused to carry an umbrella despite my insistence that he needs one. Half way their the rain became too heavy and he tried to use my tiny child-sized umbrella to shelter both of us. I wasn't impressed.. the rain was getting in my face. So we turned back home and when we were close enough, JP left me in the street while he ran ahead and got his own umbrella. It was then that the sun started to come out and I saw a full rainbow across the sky. I kinda wish I'd taken a photo of it, because it was very pretty.
Only when I got home after visiting my Dad, did I remember it was Tanabata. I love the story of Tanabata.. although mainly because I'm obsessed with magpies and there's one in the story (I have magpie pictures and ornaments scattered all over the house ^^). Seeing that rainbow with JP suddenly seemed a little more significant!
So it's a day late, but I thought I'd share with you a video of a youtuber I follow, reading out the story of Tanabata. It's nice to hear him talking about something that isn't a modded version of Minecraft ^^

Great story! Both both yours & the Tanabata video's.^^ I always found the Tanabata story, as well as the tradition of writing wishes and hanging them up pretty interesting. On a related note, I found a Japanese Tanabata wishes tag on Twitter: mobile.twitter.com/hashtag/%E4%B8%83%E5%A4%95%E7%9F%AD%E5%86%8AIt's interesting to see the kinds of things people wished for.
