Hello fellow Gaiwajin, I have been in Tokyo for a few weeks and I have a few more weeks more here. I have been posting all my pics on fb. I thought I had some Gaiwajin freinds connected to me on fb but I guess not. So if anyone wants to see new pics everyday from cool areas like Taito-ku, Fussa, Harajuku, Shibuya, etc I will try and post to Flicker and put links here. I am working on my tablet I bought for this trip and I typo all the time because my Japanese IME is freaken crazy and the ketboard is tiny I also can't organize my pics at flicker soooo for now just skip past the non Japan pics that are there. Thanks for sharing your awesome video with us, Wes! Very nice touch with the fisheye lens; how much was your go pro camera? Loved seeing the festival and the streets of Tokyo, and I have to admit that I laughed a little when the man fell off his skateboard, haha.

wes1378 Wow, these are great! I really like the way you focus on all these little interesting details. Keep us posted about your Japan trip! What are your classes like? It's been a while since I went to a language school there, but it'd be interesting for me to see how similar it is to my language school experience, and I'm sure it would be helpful for any fellow Gaiwajin (love that name idea!) who are considering going to a language school. Are the classes all in Japanese and such?

I also want to hear about your Japanese classes; hope you can find a computer or fix the keyboard on your tablet! Thanks for telling me the price of your go pro too, I might try to get one sometime. A little while ago wes1378, I think you offered to take some specific footage and photos in Tokyo for me? I was wondering, if it's possible, if you could take a go pro video from my school in Minato to my dorms in Itabashi (or the other way around)? If not, please don't worry about it! It might be too far... I just thought I'd ask you about it!

It'll help me out a great deal too! (I have no idea where these places are, and I'm leaving in two months... but, if I have your video on my phone, I might be able to find it on my own!) It's Temple University, and my dorms are mandatory, and not close at all... So if you can't do the video, I'll totally understand! I just want to know what my daily commute will be like. I'll email you the addresses!

I have you on facebook! I'm just really neglectful of it most of the time ^^ I'll check out your photos though. I hope you're enjoying your time in Japan.
JP has shown renewed interest in getting ourselves to Japan (I'd like to go next year, while Anna's still there if we can manage that). I was sorting out old photos, and found a photo of me at Kaminarimon in Asakusa and it was really amusing to see that I was about average height in that crowd! Usually I'm really short and everyone towers over me, but in Japan, I'm just normal (being able to buy any clothes off the peg and oh my.. ADULT shoes actually fit me!! It's heaven). JP found it so amusing that I think he wants to visit with me just to feel like a giant as he wades through the crowd..
I did warn him that the Japanese are getting taller, but honestly, from the photograph you wouldn't think it!
Anna.. I can answer that.. your daily commute will be punctual, cramped and silent. Blowing a gale in the summer, and roasting like a basted turkey in winter. Come on, you've been to Japan, you know how it is ^^

Oh my god, PLEASE come over, Jembru! I'm dying to finally meet you guys in person!! Now you have me all excited, haha. I'll be at TUJ until I graduate from university, so at least 2-3 years I'll be in Tokyo. (But you're right about the average height changing over there... particularly for Japanese guys! In 2011, I kept finding myself standing next to Japanese guys over 6 feet tall! Really kills my confidence after arriving in a country where my feet can touch the floor when sitting down, and I can finally shop in the grown women's section for clothes! Bliss!) Oh gosh, not looking forward to my commute now. Especially since Wes gave it a shot, and said in an email that it was a ridiculously long walk and train commute. He suggested that I buy a scooter, but my upperclassman recommend that no one buy anything large until we move into our own apartments in December, even things like bikes and rice cookers. Thanks for checking it out for me, Wes! Good to know...

Why are the halls so far? That's madness. Are you sure there isn't an easier way to get there? A subway? Bus?
Oh you'll be there a few years? I thought it was just a year. That makes it a lot more likely that we can meet then! One of my Japanese friends is planing on returning for a visit (I think) either next year or the year after. I'd love to go to Tokyo at the same time she does. That would be a blast, and we can catch up with former group members who deserted back to Japan!

wes1378 Aww, well if/when you can find another keyboard, I'd love to read about your classes and such! LittleGaijinA long commute? I feel for you. The housing for the language school I went to when I was there was also pretty far. Definitely get a scooter or bike, if you check the bus schedules and find nothing close.
