Seeing as LittleGaijin, Dizzy, and I were posting about it in the Bilingual Self-Introduction thread, I figured why not make a WoW thread too? ♥ So, I'm about to download the Free-to-Play one on my desktop... this is going to make saving up for travelling even harder, isn't it? orz Hey, Dizzy, what do you suggest I try first? lol

Actually, you can get a mount at 20 now. So, even though you have the 20 cap, you can keep playing at level 20 for all time. Make as many characters as you want. Gold is so easy to come by now. You get more than enough just by questing up to 20.
Yall should try out my server (Cenarion Circle). I can actually help you out there.
OH JEEZ. YOU GUYS HAVEN'T BEEN ON SINCE CROSSREALM! So...have you ever heard of crossrealm?

Ahh, I meant travelling overseas, I'm taking a trip to visit some friends in America in January, so I really shouldn't be thinking about buying WoW lol
Nope, haven't heard of that. Should I have? lol

True, but if you have free-to-play till after that, you can still play and save money. Ugh. Yes. Crossrealm is a feature they introduced a while ago. All low population areas (pretty much everywhere but Stormwind and Orgrimmar) are crossrealm now. That means that certain groups of realms are connected to each other. So, you'll see people from many different realms all in one place. They can't trade or share an AH, join a guild with each other, etc., but you can group, dungeon, and hang out with them. It's neat for the most part. On RP realms, it means hundreds of people crowding around, stripping, ERPing, and acting stupid in certain areas. Goldshire is a nightmare. Soon enough, they'll be doing virtual realms. They'll be combining certain realms into a larger group of realms. Those crossrealms will be able to trade, group, guild, and share an auction house. A lot of people are...less than happy.

That sounds so convenient though! I mean lag and stuff and people sharing items between just their own characters could be an issue I guess, but it sounds like it'd be really helpful.
Also, crossrealm sounds really nice. At least there'd be lots of people to talk to if you socialise in MMOs a lot. I often don't talk to people I don't know, but if I did I'd probably like it more lol

It'd be nice if people weren't so elitist most of the time. People get into arguments over which realm is better and scream at people to leave.
Other than that, it is nice. I ran out of room for characters on Wyrmrest Accord, and now, I use Cenarion Circle. I can still play with my fiance on his main on Wyrmrest without any problems. So, that's nice.

The new "Crossrealms" feature sounds really insanely convenient! This is something that I can be genuinely thrilled about! I remember that whenever a friend of mine would get World of Warcraft (or even Star Wars) so that we could play together, I would be such a nag when it came to choosing a realm server...
"Make sure that you're on the Horde side okay? I don't have any Ally characters." "Okay, roger that." "Last important thing, you have to be on a realm called "Shandris" or we won't see each other, okay?" "Realm? What's tha... oh forget it, I'll figure it out." "After you create your character, it'll ask you to join a realm. Search for Shandris!" "Aye, woman." "JIMMY, WHICH REALM ARE YOU GONNA CHOOSE?" "SHAMPOO." "NOOOOO JIMMY, SHANDRIS. YOU GOTTA REMEMBER THIS, OR WE'RE SCREWED." "SHUT UP, AND LET ME PLAY MY GAME DAMMIT."
EDIT: So long as Shandris and Cenarion Circle are all a part of Crossrealms, does that mean that we could all group up and play together, even though we're on different servers?

EDIT: So long as Shandris and Cenarion Circle are all a part of Crossrealms, does that mean that we could all group up and play together, even though we're on different servers? Yup! I think all the RP groups are together. Then, it's split up between PvP realms being together and normal realms being together. I'm not sure which servers are connected. Since I play on RP realms, they're the only ones I know about for sure.

I'll just create an account on your realm sometime! I don't have any Alliance characters on mine anyways! Did you hear about the World of Warcraft movie? I just told Jade about it!

Hey Dizzy, have you had any encounters with Battle.net staff? Are they generally helpful or am I pretty much stuck buying WoW all over again if I can't remember anything about the WoW account I used to have? I've also locked myself out of the Battle.net account I do have that I was trying to link my old one too, so there's also that lol

They're usually pretty nice. Can you at least remember the e-mail address of your old one? If so, all they ever need (usually) is a scan of your driver's license to prove you're the owner of the account. I got my account hacked a bunch of times, and they needed my driver's license, that was it. I couldn't even access my e-mail. All my stuff got hacked.
If you absolutely can't do that, the WoW site sells the battlechest for 20 dollars. It's the base game, BC, and WotLK for 20 bucks, plus a month of free game time. If you consider that getting game time is 15 dollars a month, that means you're getting the first three games for about 1.66 each. Sometimes, if you're fine with playing limited for a while, they have nice sales. I think I bought an entire account -- vanilla to Panda -- for 30 dollars during one sale. Cata is only 10 dollars now. Sometimes, you can find it cheaper online.

I can vaguely remember the username, the fact that my mum's credit card was on the account (because when I first started they didn't have prepaid and I didn't have a card I could use), and maybe the password. I guess it probably would be easier just buying them all over again (and creating a new Battle.net account because I definitely don't remember choosing a security question) D: Edit: Gdi, I didn't realise a month of free game time would be a month outside of game and not in-game. I probably should have looked that up first. Oh, by the way LittleGaijin, no need to send me Cataclysm anymore (;´▽`A`` lol Edit #2: Okay, so I have WoW again now. I still need to download a whole heap, and the first 5GB patch is slow as hell, but I'll let you know when I'm able to be in-game♥

Woo! Let me know when you can get on. I can make a character on whatever realm you want to play on. The patches always take a long time...meh. As far as game month vs real life month, the game runs on the same months as real life to avoid confusion. I can't remember what holiday is coming up soon...

I'm in-game now! Though it's still patching while I play, so there may be a few issues there eventually lol
I'm in Cenarion Circle, and I'm a Draenei called Haea.
