So, I have several songs in Japanese that I really like to listen to because the singer's voice is crisp and clear! I'm able to hear every word and follow along with the song. I just thought about grabbing the English translation of the lyrics today and realized I've learned several phrases just from that. I was hoping maybe we could start a thread to post a song with lyrics in Japanese and English to share with one another. I prefer the ones that I can hear the words clearly in but if the lyrics are included I'll listen to anything! So, the song I ABSOLUTELY LOVE is Radical Dreamers - Unstolen Jewel. It's used in Chrono Cross a slightly older PS1 RPG. Japanese | English | 幼い手につつんだ ふるえてるその光を
Osanai te ni tsutsunda furue teru sono hikari o | I hid that trembling light in my young hands | ここまでたどってきた 時間のふちをさまよい
Koko made tadotte kita jikan no fuchi o samayoi | I've traveled this far, wandering the abyss of time | さがしつづけてきたよ 名前さえ知らないけれど
Sagashi tsudzukete kita yo namae sae shiranaikeredo | I continued to search for you, though I know not even your name | ただひとつの想いを あなたに手渡したくて
Tada hitotsu no omoi o anata ni tewatashitakute
| I wanted to hand over to you just one single feeling | ときは愛も痛みも 深く抱きとめ
Toki wa ai mo itami mo fukaku dakitome
| Times catches deep in its arms both love and pain | 消してゆくけど わたしは おぼえている
ずっと・・・
Keshite yukukedo watashi wa oboete iru zutto
| And erases them, but I remember them
And always will... | わたしの胸のおくに いつからか響いていた・・・
Watashi no mune no oku ni itsukara ka hibiite ita
| It's reverberated deep in my breast for I know not how long... | 夜露のしずくよりも かすかなささやきだけど
Yotsuyu no shizuku yori mo kasukana sasayakidakedo
| Though it's a whisper fainter than a drop of evening dew |
凍てつく星の闇へ 紡ぐ祈りが
Itetsuku hoshi no yami e tsumugu inori ga
| May the prayer I spun towards the darkness of the frozen stars | 遠いあなたのそらに 届くように・・・
Tōi anata no sora ni todoku yō ni
| Reach all the way to your distant sky... |
Also, If anyone feels they offer a translation that better relays what the speaker is actually saying then feel free to let me know and I will correct it. This is, what I felt, was the best sounding translation available on the net. I got this translation from AnimeLyrics.com I can't wait to hear the music everyone might have to share! Thanks, Logan

Wow, this singer has a beautiful voice! When I was in highschool, my favorite band was Monkey Majik (モンキーマジック) and they were partly responsible in why I wanted to (re)learn Japanese in the first place! The lead singers are Canadian brothers who originally came to Japan to teach English. If you're looking for a really awesome band with easy to understand lyrics and pronunciation of Japanese, I think you might really like these guys! They are still, and always will be, my favorite band. This was one of my first songs of theirs! It's really, really popular. And you can find all the lyrics on JpopAsia.

These songs are really good, I use songs as well! So much easier to listen to instead of podcasts in my opinion. Most of the time I try to sing with them only the words don't match up every time but it goes a bit better every time I try it. My favorite artist is Yui, she has such a nice voice And I also like Goose House very much, they mostly cover songs but they also have some original ones.

I'm sorry if this has already been said, but I didn't see it anywhere: Also, do be sure to check out Bokusenou's articles that include song translations: like this one
And if there is a song you like and you can't find the English lyrics for it, please start a thread, including a link to the song, and we can translate it together, like we did hereA few of us really enjoy getting our teeth into translations, so you don't need to feel you're asking too much. We'd only find something else to distract us from the things we should be doing with our time!

Ayaka (絢香) has a very clear voice to listen and is lovely to listen to There's a ENG/JP subbed video here. I normally listen to more electro-pop type stuff though. At the moment I'm listening to immi. Translation with romaji lyrics here.

Great song selections! Everything is very different and interesting I have lots of these downloaded now and loaded on my iPhone and I even have the lyrics there to see! I have two more songs that I find really catchy! They're both found in the anime Seirei no moribito. This one is called Naaji no uta. The lyrics can be found here. As always with AnimeLyrics.com you can click view kanji to see the song in Japanese Another FANTASTIC song! I absolutely love this one! It's called Itoshi hito e sung by Tainaka sachi. Lyrics found here.

I think I'll post another Spyair song which I like the lyrics to... Samurai Heart by Spyair...My first exposure to it, as well as to Spyair was from this video. Here are the lyrics. LittleGaijin I'm glad you like it! I think I'm really getting into Spyair. menakatep I just finished watching that series! Last anime season and this one didn't have much I wanted to watch, so I've been going through older series I wanted to watch but never got around to. There's actually a thread where few other members and I are translating another book series by the same author as Seirei no Moribito. If you like, feel free to read along, or join in!

Well, I'm not exactly using these as a study tool as such, but I didn't know where else to put this. JP recently introduced me to a Japanese band I genuinely like.. not just because 'Japanese is keewl' (it is, but actually, they sing in English A LOT of the time.. very good English at that!), but because I genuinely feel moved by their music. My search is over, I have finally found a Japanese band I can really get into. Thanks JP!

Jembru Oh, I love ONE OK ROCK! Especially their older stuff, though not so much their ballads. I often play their "Kanjou Effect" album get I need to get work done. I love サカナクション!(If anyone has any recommendations of similar music, please let me know!!) This is their simplest song, but it's very catchy! https%3A//soundcloud.com/genki-biblioteca/sakanaction-ame-bIt seems the lyrics are officially written in katakana. アメ フルヨル
| On a rainy night
| キミガ クレタカサ
| The umbrella you gave me
| サスト カゼガ
| When I put it up, the wind | フク
| Blows | ツヨクフク
| Blows strongly | ヒダリカタニシタタルアメ
| Rain drips onto my right shoulder |
