Welcome to Gaiwa Jess!
Your Japanese is pretty good for a beginner! No mistakes so far.
Dancing is fun! I used to do tap dancing and ballroom dancing growing up. What sort of dancing do you like to do?

Arigato for the welcome! Please forgive me if I mix Japanese words with English...I am just merely practicing typing and saying Japanese so I can better remember it and keep it in my memory. And thank you! I wanted to at least know some greetings before posting. I personally like to belly dance and someday I might learn hip hop dancing, salsa, and other cool stuff! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Thank you very much! I'm really happy to hear that! Hmm...I like a lot of Vocaloid songs, but a few of my favorites are Dragon Rising, No Logic, and Parallels. Check them out if you get the chance! I could raffle off Vocaloid songs forever, but that might get a little boring!

Welcome to Gaiwa! I'm a vegetarian too and you're so right, it's sometimes hard to find Japanese food we can eat. I think it's particularly tough in Japan itself, but at least in the West you can come across decent Japanese food for vegetarians. I don't know much about Vocaloids, but my Minecraft skin is apparently one. I don't know which one though... Could you maybe link your blog? You've got me interested! Anyway, it's great that you've joined our forum. Thank you.

I really wish I could dance. I sometimes wish I'd done ballet when I was younger. They are so elegant and disciplined, something I could have really benefited from when I was young. Daijoubu about mixing Nihongo and English. If that's what helps you to remember, then by all means keep doing it! The author of 'Japanese for Dummies' actually writes like that! Although she does it by writing the hatsuon (hatsoo-on: pronunciation) and imi (eemee; meaning) in brackets after every Japanese word. I thought that was quite a unique approach. Anyway, welcome to Gaiwa. It's great to have you with us!

Shooting Star Dreamer! Thank you very much! Yes..exactly! I tend to go to my nearby supermarket for my vegetarian food. It's called Nutrition Smart, and they sell a lot of things you won't find anywhere else. The only thing is, it's really expensive so I don't go there often. You'd think it'd be easier to eat healthy! Vocaloid are basically anime characters with their own unique voices. They sing in languages such as Japanese or English, and dance too. They also do concerts, I'd really like to go to one at least once in my life! Each has their own voice-bank and you can buy the software to make them sing anything you want. Since it's open to basically anyone, there's so many different songs that you can at least find one you like. I posted a few of my favorites earlier in my response. If you want please check them out. My blog is Shooting Star Dreamer, you can find it at the link above. Thank you again for the welcome!

I especially like No Logic. The lyrics are so pretty! Have you ever made a Vocaloid song? Ever since I heard there was a free Vocaloid clone called UTAU I've been thinking of giving it a try one day for fun.^^ Oh, have you heard of Voiceroids? They're like Vocaloids meant for talking. Some sound a lot more realistic than normal text to speech programs, so I got one so that I could add audio to my Anki flashcards. XD

Mixing Japanese words with English is fine! I think it's something a lot of language learners do sometimes. I did it sometimes when I was starting out too. I've seen some videos with belly dancing and it looks like fun! Dancing is so neat when you see someone really getting into the beat of the music.^^

I think it's a great song, and the lyrics speak to me greatly. I did a blog post on it not too long ago if I remember correctly. I haven't made a Vocaloid song, but I did make one using UTAU. Only because it was free. I don't think I'm very good at making songs xD No, I haven't. I'm definitely interested in them now though! Oh, I started using Anki recently. I've been doing a lot more self-study than before. ^^

Yeah, especially the the part about not being perfect really resonated with me! Me being somewhat of a perfectionist and all. Yeah, good songs probably take a lot of time and work to make. I like singing them though^^ In that case, I'm glad I was able to introduce you to something which might be useful! I've been using Anki for a while now, so if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask!

Hi everyone! I'm Denny. Nice to meet you. I'm from Indonesia. Since English is not my native language, so please don't hesitate to correct my grammar. I've been looking for a friendly Japanese learning forum and I do stumbled upon on Gaiwa. I wish I could improve both of my English and Japanese speaking skills. So from now, please bear with my grammatical error post. Hahaha!
Do you have a nickname?
Yes, I do. My nickname is Denny. simplydenny is my internet alias. Feel free to call me by my real name.
Do you have a pet?
I don't have a pet.
Are you a cat person or a dog person?
I like both cats and dogs, but I do love cat the most.
What are your hobbies?
I love drawing so much. You can find me busy using CorelDRAW on workdays because I'm an aspiring illustrator (especially video game graphic artist). I also play video games, the first entertaining activity that my father introduced to me. I do some sports. If you live in Bandung, you can find me jogging around the city on weekend when I don't have any working deadlines.
What's your favourite food?
My favorite food is almost any food made from potatoes (We called it "Kentang" in Indonesia). Mostly it's Indonesian food (Perkedel Kentang, Semur Kentang). Mashed potatoes is my favourite dish when I'm too lazy to cook.
How did you find Gaiwa?
I found Gaiwa from LittleGaijin blog while randomly googling about Tofugu (any Tofugu's reader here?). I love to read any post related about Japan especially Japanese daily life. That's why I've stumbled upon many similar sites such as Tofugu, Zooming Japan, GaijinPot, & Matcha.
I've been using Takoboto & Tango Master (Windows Phone version) apps to learn Japanese from scratch. It's still a long way for me to be able to speak Japanese eloquently, but I believe that I will learn a lot from Gaiwa's member here.
Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

Nice to meet you simplydenny! (⊙ᴗ⊙✿) Oh wow, I'm really honored that you found Gaiwa through my blog! (But also a little embarrassed because I haven't used it in sooooo long...) Gaiwa is a very friendly and helpful community, I think you will really love it here! Welcome to Gaiwa! I also love to draw! Actually right now, I'm currently applying for an internship at Square Enix here in Japan! The artwork in some video games is very beautiful and inspiring!! I think it's cool that you are an aspiring illustrator!
