I made this thread for fun facts that are Japan related, like today (22/2) is cat day! 今日は猫の日ですよ! Maybe you have seen #猫の日 or #2月22日2時22分のにゃー (on twitter)??

It would have been 22nd in Japan when I was watchng Japanese tv last night (still 21st for us), so this probably explains the girl I saw dressed as a cat that I described to Rin in the News thread!
They have so many holidays and national such and such days, that I'm quite sure we can keep this thread busy!

It's official.. the cherry blossom is open in Tokyo. Over a week later than last year (9 days in fact), but last year was unusually early.

Haha it seems everyone has been posting pictures of the blossoms lately, and after Jade mentioned it I decided to upload the new Gaiwachan today to make Spring official! I hope that someday in the future we can have a huge Gaiwa hanami meetup!

Not really a 'day' event, but from March to May is bamboo shoot season! I found this nice video (actually this guy's channel might be worth looking into). The video is called: たけのこ掘り→狩り→焼きたけのこ(調理)をしてみた Bamboo shoot harvest-> collection-> cooking Trying out cooking bamboo shoots

Technically it was yesterday, but March 3rd is known as Hina Matsuri in Japan.
